The Great Saiyaman Saga of Dragonball Z largely focuses on Gohan, who is now a teenager attending high school in the city (previously he was self-tutored at home).
The saga kicks off with a still-deceased Goku fighting in an Otherworld tournament which he should have won but instead draws because of double disqualification. The main bulk of the stories focus on Gohan as he tries to adjust to high school life without revealing his powers, not much help when dealing with common crooks in the city. In response, Gohan asks Bulma to make him a costume to hide his identity while fighting.
He becomes The Great Saiyaman, quickly winning the adoration of the city through his feats. But he attracts suspicion from fellow classmate and crime fighter Videl, who is Hercule (Mr. Satan)'s daughter. Videl finds out Gohan's secret, promising to keep it safe in exchange for flying lessons and on the condition that Gohan enters the upcoming martial arts tournament. This leads into the World Tournament Saga.
